Huacaya Alpacas Sold

IONA, has just been sold to Meadowlark Heritage Farm! Congratulations on a "fine" choice! She is the beautiful white daughter of white Khloë and medium fawn Bradford. She is named after the Scottish isle of Iona because she has a small medium fawn spot on the left side of her nose! Her genetics carry Snowmass Incaaccoyo Star, Snowmass Snow Legend, Peruvian Snowmaster, Microsoft, Caligula, Hemingway, and Hemingway-Accoyo Nautilus lines, making her 11/16 Peruvian, 3/16 Bolivian, and 1/8 Chilean (if I did my math correctly!) We now have her histogram on this first year shearing and it is VERY LONG, phenomenally long! 141mm to be exact which is 5 1/2 inches!! Looking at Khloë's and Bradford's EPDs, this combination which produced Iona is likely to give her a finer fleece (AFD -1.229), a better spin fineness (-1.205), a very low percent of fibers over 30 micron (-4.3), more curve (+2.316), a longer staple length (+0.794), and a bit heavier fleece weight than average (+0.265). I'm glad to explain these numbers in more detail if you give me a call! She is a larger alpaca like her mother and I expect her to be able to birth easily and unassisted. If she's like her mom in the milk department, she will have plenty and her offspring will need no supplementing. That makes life easy.

Notice Hazel's daughter Rhiannon has a finer micron than Hazelnut, the result of a finer stud. She's a sturdy and petite little paca that you will find quite easy to work with. She has a pleasant personality--even when pregnant! She amuses me. After throwing regular ole hay in the bucket, she will stand at the gate watching to see if I go to the "special pile"—alfalfa. She had an EXCELLENT histogram considering her color for 2014 with 21.4 micron and 95.4% comfort factor and that at SEVEN years! Now she is twelve years old--see her histogram which is better than ever! She's big and pretty, with lots of presence, color, and is quite amusing with her antics. We find Muireall to be quite a stunning creature and is one of our favorites. This girl never slumps but is always very erect and upright, bright and energetic. If she were a horse I'd call her "spirited." Muireall's first year fleece was sold to a spinner and weaver with rave reviews (www.perrytextiles.com). Getting my hands in it and working to get it ready to ship to the spinner gave me a totally new appreciation of how beautiful a fiber it was. Though this beautiful little cria isn't owned by our farm, she is being shown here because her dam, Kenzie, is ours. Rosebud (Rosie) is the result of using our dam in our rent-a-womb program. David and Lauren "rented" Kenzie, chose the service sire Grazing Hills Ephraim, and the result is this pretty little female cria! (Notice her fleece!) All of our dams can be rented. Which dam you choose determines the monthly price for her rental. You then choose the sire you would like her to be bred to and pay for the breeding.
